We believe there is a foundation match for everybody, but all too often it can be difficult to find makeup ranges with a truly diverse collection of shades – and even when you do, it can be another challenge to find them on the shelves. It is so important to acknowledge the brands who create products for everybody, so we have put together this list of a few of our favourite inclusive ranges in a variety of textures and price points.
Cover FX Natural Finish Foundation
The Natural Finish Foundation comes in forty shades in four undertones (pink, neural, golden and golden+) making it a truly inclusive range. The golden+ undertone is perfect for those whose olive undertones are warmer than what is often represented in foundation ranges. It is oil free but still mega hydrating with a natural satin finish – we recommend it for those of us with normal to dry skin. But the best part? It’s vegan and cruelty free!
The True Match Super Blendable range has a wide variety of shades in a lightweight and dewy texture making it ideal for dry skin. Its light to medium coverage comes in a range of shades from very light but warm, to very dark but cool toned – combinations that are often overlooked in drug store lines. By filling their range with a variety of shades and undertones, L’Oreal has created a truly inclusive, lightweight and natural foundation that doesn’t break the bank.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid
The OG of inclusive ranges, Studio Fix Fluid has been a staple for deeper skin tones for over fifteen years. MAC foundation shades are constantly expanding, they have built up a huge range of colours with a variety of undertones suitable for almost everyone (though we do think there is some room for improvement – especially for deeper skin tones). It is a full coverage, matte foundation that is a staple in the kits of many makeup artists. If you want to find your MAC makeup match, head here!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup
The iconic and beloved Double Wear comes in over 60 inclusive shades in cool, neutral, and warm undertones. Its long-lasting matte formula is perfect for oily skin or those in humid climates. It has a buildable to full coverage, however doesn’t feel heavy or cakey – just one of the many reasons it has become one of the worlds most popular foundations.
Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless
Not many drug store foundation ranges can boast a range as large and inclusive as Fit Me! Matte + Poreless. Its buildable to high coverage and matte finish is definitely designed for normal to oily skin types, with a “non-comedogenic formula” designed to smooth your pores without clogging them. It is designed for long wear making it a great affordable foundation for events and parties – plus it photographs beautifully!
Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation
Bobbi Brown’s philosophy is that most people have warm undertones, and those that don’t are likely wanting to cover their redness, so most of the foundations have yellow pigments in them. This essentially makes the Skin Long-Wear Foundation a colour corrector and foundation in one! Despite having a matte finish, it doesn’t dry out the skin and is packed full of hydrating ingredients like marine sugarcane algae and shea butter.
