With the BACK TO MAC program ending at the end of this month, we’re looking at our team's favorite MAC lipstick shades.
If you haven’t heard of the Back To MAC program, you better read up quickly! It’s been around for 30 years, and is ending on 31st March 2023. The free-product incentive is simply this: you take 6 empty MAC containers to any MAC store and you get a free lippy (or eyeshadow, but to be honest the single eyeshadows are more of a hindrance than a help)
MAC released this statement: “As we evolve Back-to-M∙A∙C toward greater action and impact for change, after March 31, 2023, we will move from our free product incentive to a monetary pledge to an environment-focused NGO dedicated to helping conserve our planet.” So it’s not all bad news: instead of tossing your empties into your bin at home, you can still take them back to MAC and feel good about your impact on the planet in this way.
If you do have some empty MAC products laying around (decanter some if you need to) and want to grab a free lippy while you still can, here are the colors we would recommend:
Ash - In-House MUA & Color Analyst
I recently took my empties Back to Mac and the staff member convinced me to choose something FUN. I have no regrets. This retro matte lipstick is such a fun pop of hot pinky red! If there are any parties coming up, invite me because I'm ready!
Fleur - Lab Manager
Fleur loves this hot coral red and the summer vibes it brings all year round. Another matte lipstick that MAC is truly famous for. This longwearing lip color is a failsafe option year after year.
Simone - Account Manager
This pale pinky-nude shade feels super creamy on the lips. Simone loves that the color is subtle enough for everyday wear but it gives a little shimmy shine so she feels polished. We love how these cremesheen lip colors give a soft wash of color with one swipe but can be built up for more impact.
Victoria - CEO & Co-Founder
While Victoria says the classic Ruby Woo red is her all time MAC classic, she finds herself wearing Mull It Over everyday. Described as a dirty peach color - this is one of MACs powder kiss lipsticks (which are so underrated!) it has a soft matte finish and a barely-there feel on the lips.
Rachel - Product Manager
Reserving Lady Danger for her nights out, Rachel wears Kinda Sexy as an everyday color to give her lips a little oomph. This neutral-pinky rose shade has a matte finish and serves that “your lips but better” look.
From bold reds to soft pinks, we each have a unique preference that suits our personal style. With so many colors and finishes options to choose from, there is truly something for everyone. Get your butts down to MAC asap!
